I feel so overwhelmed with everything. I'm young. I'm insecure because I've got extra weight on me. I've got little to no energy. I've two small extremely energetic children. My husband doesn't get on my case a lot about doing things except for sometimes. He knows it bothers me when the house is a mess. I get really stressed out by all the cooking, overwhelming cleaning, and chasing around my two very small children that are (no lie) no stop! I have no time for myself. I even have to clean after my husband who is a slob. He leaves clothes in every room of the house. He throws stuff on the floor, tells me he's cleaning and that he'll throw it away when he's done, then NEVER DOES.
Then when he does help clean once a month if I'm lucky, then I complain about him not helping, he brings it up that he cleaned and acts as if that was actually enough.
I don't require a lot from him. I expect him to take out the trash, mow the lawn, and maybe do dishes once or twice a week, and then he can cook one night a week. I expect him to keep his clothes in the hamper, and play with the kids for about an hour a day, so I can decompress. He doesn't do any of it. He doesn't work long hours, he doesn't have a really stressful job, he LOVES his job. We're also in the process of moving, so he expects me to pack up the whole house too!
This wouldn't be so bad, BUT I'm just completely drained every day as soon as I wake up. Our children are seriously are a handful. I love them dearly, but they make unbelievable messes everyday that keep me so busy that I don't always find the time or energy to clean the house as well as I would like. Then when my husband comes home, things become more STRESSFUL because he parents from the couch. He believes in yelling and spanking. I don't. The kids listen much better when he's not here. Our house RAN much smoother when he was deployed. He was almost perfect before he left for Iraq, but I don't know what changed. He's not the same loving and helpful guy that he used to be. He seems to act like I should just do everything for him because I'm beneath him I guess. I don't know. That's just how I feel. :( He has actually put me down also, although he claims he was just joking.
Anyway... I'm getting into something completely different that actually just happened a couple of times in the last couple of days because we were bickering a lot from stress and exhaustion.
I wish I could just have my energy back then I could handle this better, but I still wouldn't be ok with it. I feel he needs to do his part in this household. I'm not the only one who lives here and makes messes, yet I'm the only one who cleans it up. I clean up after 4 people, and then do everything else on top of that. He keeps me up late at night also even though he knows I'm extremely exhausted. I can't take it anymore. I'm just too run down and I think it's really hurting our marriage.

Same here. I have been putting up with it for 20 years and am finally at my ropes end. I have tried to discuss it with him but he doesn't hear. In one ear out the other. My kids are now out of school and I am seriously considering leaving. I have told him this too but he seems to not care.
I just threw a bunch of tools into the dumpster because after a year he hasn't picked them up. If he doesn't care why should I? I am last on his list, I have to find out things that personally affect me (such as he cleaned out our savings) second hand. There comes a time when actions speak louder than words and maybe if I walk out he'll wake up.
It gets better as the kids get older but he isn't going to change unless he wakes up. Men think bringing home a paycheck is enough and then are surprised when we wives eventually just see them as walking paychecks.

Hi Tiffame: I'm in the same situation besides that my husband hasn't being in the military. It seems like every month he gets worst. We have talked and he just come with excuses and doesn't change. I completely understand. I feel like I can't keep up with anything. My husband works horrible hours and isn't always around in the evening either. We have one child just over a year. We live in a town where we don't know anyone, We have no support. I get so lonely and like you said just drained at the beginning of the day. I literally do it all around the house, cooking, cleaning, mowing, yardwork. I try to make it easier for him since he works a lot and is doing it to help us. But it's just exhausting and miss adult interaction. I always feel like when I talk to him he just doesn't understand because he's not home alone like I am. I understand I don't know what to do, but thought you would like to know that someone out there understands.
