We are having differing views on having children. My husband has kids from a previous marriage, however I do not have any. . I would like to try to start a family and he is reluctant. He thinks he is too old to start this again. How can we resolve this.

I am married to a very wonderful man for over three years. I just turned 39 and continue to choose, for my own reasons, not to have children. I love kids, have a great time with them, but don't want any of my own. This decision is quite ok with my husband but seems to make a lot of people uncomfortable. They will ask me if I want kids and when I say no they will tell me how great I am with kids (the one’s who know me) and, how wonderful it is to have children and that I really should have at least one of my own. I would like to make it perfectly clear that I am not against the idea of having children. I think motherhood and fatherhood is one of the most admirable and challenging endeavours a couple can embark on but I also believe that it's perfectly ok to choose not to have children.
That is my position. Whatever yours is, I'm not here to judge, but those of us that are not having children of our own can still be positive influences on the children in our lives.
